Bloom: A Dandelion’s Wish is a heartwarming and beautifully illustrated story that encourages children—and even adults—to embrace who they are. Bloom, a little dandelion, feels unhappy with his appearance. He wishes he could be as striking as the red roses or stand as tall and proud as the tulips. Despite the encouraging words from his best friend Addy, a kind blue butterfly who reminds him that “being you is the best way to be,” Bloom sets out to change himself.
Alicia Mofford delivers a powerful message about self-acceptance through gentle storytelling and endearing characters. Children will easily connect with Bloom’s feelings and learn valuable lessons about self-worth and uniqueness. The vibrant illustrations add life to the story, making it visually appealing and engaging for young readers.
Special touches like the glossary explaining butterfly and dandelion lifestyles, and Hoot Featherstone—the wise little owl who appears at the corners of the pages with thought-provoking questions—help deepen children’s understanding and encourage critical thinking.
Overall, Bloom: A Dandelion’s Wish is a delightful read, offering timeless lessons wrapped in a charming, colorful package. It’s a wonderful addition to any child’s bookshelf and a meaningful story for families and classrooms as well.

My 4 yr old granddaughter was with me when the book came in the mail. The cover caught her eye and she asked me to read it to her. She loved the colorful pictures and pointed out each and every detail. We both found the book delightful. Highly recommend.

This children’s book has beautiful illustrations and a very beautiful story of friendship and 2 friends learning who they are. Through Alicia’s words children will easily connect with Bloom’s feelings and learn that when you change to be someone your not, others might not recognize you and will no longer be there for you.
The dandelion’s wish overall is a lovely read, that offers lessons and guidance, with questions to ask when you see change. loved the description of the life of a dandelion and of a butterfly, then you have a glossary for children to learn word definitions, very impressive.
One more note, teens and adults can learn something from this as well, if only they opened their minds
